Posting resident credits through Propexo

Overview

When Propexo lacks a dedicated endpoint for processing resident credits for a specific PMS, you can sometimes use the resident charges endpoint as an alternative solution. PMS APIs do not usually allow for deleting charges.

Supported PMS

This approach works for Appfolio and Yardi. Systems with a dedicated resident-credits endpoint are: Rent Manager, Propertyware REST, and Rentvine .

Solution

To post a credit using the charges endpoint:

1. Use the standard Propexo resident charges endpoint

2. Submit a negative value for the charge amount

3. The negative charge will automatically offset the resident's balance by the credit amount

Example

Instead of posting a $50 credit through a dedicated credit endpoint, post a charge of -$50 through the charges endpoint. This will reduce the resident's balance by $50, achieving the same result as a traditional credit posting.
